Raptor repaints, vol. Boys
July - September 2021

I repaired three broken Kenner JP raptor figures, and customized them into my OCs.
I don't usually edit these original 90's figures, but these guys were in dire need of edits just to be
presentable, so it was the perfect opportunity. If you came to this page from somewhere else,
the AU they're part of can be found here.
I also have a character page that has more information on them.

Materials:

  • polymer clay + liquid polymer clay

  • epoxy putty

  • aluminum wire + foil

  • acrylic paint

  • glue

Serene

He's a TLW: JP tigerstripe raptor, that came to me missing a lower jaw.
The choice of a figure also felt fitting as Serene is Dash and Dare's son, and
on my raptor shelf they're represented by figures that have this same sculpt.

  • sculpted a new lower jaw, and also an upper lip
  • partial repaint; changed the facial markings to match the character's design, added scars to one leg, and touched up paint scuffs

You can find a more detailed step-by-step about the
process of making Serene's figure here at my blog:

Singer

Like his brother, he is a customized TLW: JP tigerstripe raptor.
His figure had apparently been mistaken for a chew toy by a dog at some point, and
was missing a bit of almost every extremity, the head especially having very little left.

  • sculpted replacements for most of the head, one tip of a finger, two toes, and the tip of the tail, and smoothed scratches and cracks
  • partial repaint; painted all of the new additions other than the inside of the mouth, changed facial markings on what was left of the original face to match the character's design, added a few markings to the neck, and touched up paint scuffs

process of making Singer's figure here at my blog:

Beetlebiter

He's a TLW: JP "cyclops" raptor. His and Singer's figures are from the same source, so their starting
conditions were about the same. His design is based on the Tribe B raptors from JP: Trespasser.

  • sculpted replacements for about half of the head, two toes on each foot, the tip of the tail, and wrists, and smoothed scratches and cracks
  • replaced broken hands with spare parts from the model kit I used to make Whirlwind
  • removed or made less severe-looking the "dino damage" that was part of the figure's original design
  • full repaint other than the new parts inside the mouth

You can find a more detailed step-by-step about the
process of making Beetlebiter's figure here at my blog:

A closer look at some of the repaired parts: Singer's tail tip, one of his feet (both got a new outmost toe),
the hand that got a new middle finger, and also Beetlebiter's feet, both of which have new toes other than the sickle claw ones.

Beetlebiter and Singer, on a date night, perhaps. They both got a new left eye, and of course I made them glow-in-the-dark.

More details: Beetlebiter's hands and tail. And how Serene's mouth looks opened wider with the action feature.

:)

A family portrait. Serene is Meripihka's mate, and Tumult, Daydreamer, and Soft steps are their chicks.
Singer and Beetlebiter are a couple, and Ruckus is their daughter.
