Blue and the Indoraptor

terrible movies that I (mostly) love.
Story

Fight averted, friendship gained.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the sake of clarity I'll just continue to call them by the canon
monikers 'Blue' and 'the Indoraptor' or 'the Indoraptor
prototype' (or 'Indo' for short), despite their having other names
among the raptors in this AU. And you can of course call them whatever
you want, they're not my characters.
In comics their speech bubbles have been
colour-coded as various shades of blue with a darker outline for Blue,
and yellow with black or almost black for the Indoraptor
prototype. |

Skye
"She
got so excited about killing things she tired herself out."
—Blue
about sleeping baby Skye
Skye is a
Velociraptor who appears in
The Jurassic World Raptor AU.
She is Blue
and the
Indoraptor prototype's first chick.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mischievous, optimistic, responsible when
necessary.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skye has the build of a Jurassic Park/World
Velociraptor, with pronated wrists, and bulkier
head and more prehensile tail than
dromaeosaurids are currently considered to have had.
She has slit pupils in her yellow eyes. Skye's plumage has a greenish grey base colour with a
lighter underbelly, similar to her mother's
colouring but slightly darker. She has darker grey spots
on her body and stripes on her limbs, with the spots
having a U or V shape as they are the tips of feathers.
Her
flight
feathers are the same colour as the spots and
stripes, on both her wings and her tail fan. Her wings
have black dorsal coverts. The ventral coverts are the
same green-grey as her base colour in both her juvenile
and adult plumages, but in her adult plumage they also
have blue specks on them. The feathers at the
back of her head and neck are long, and raised into a crest. The top of her head and her brows are
black. She has a little tassel-like beard of soft feathers
under her chin. Though her wings aren't exactly like the
wings on
Mesozoic dromaeosaurids due to her pronated wrists and
some missing soft tissue at the joints, her primary flight
feathers are attached to her second finger, making her
wings mostly functional. The different wrist articulation
does, however, contribute to the flight feathers of her
wings wearing more quickly, as the wing doesn't fold
closed as smoothly.
As a hatchling and for a while
afterwards, Skye had only bare skin on most of her body, while her
hands, feet, and most of her face is scaly. The fluffy down feathers
she grew first were the same colour as she is now, without the darker
markings of her wings, tail fan, and head crest.
Skye has blue stripe markings on her skin
that are identical to her mother's. When she begun growing feathers,
the markings were at first covered and not replicated in her down or
her juvenile plumage of
pennaceous
feathers. Moulting into her adult plumage has made her blue
markings visible again, now in feather form, though some of the
markings on her skin are visible around her eyes.
She has blue, slightly iridescent feathers
sparcely placed among the raised feathers at the back of her head and
neck, though not among the black feathers, other than three blue
feathers on each brow. Along each flank from the corners of her eyes
to the tip of her tail is a stripe of blue feathers. On her flanks the
blue stripe has a thin, white outline, and the stripe loops around her tail as
blue
tips on the body feathers bordering the tail fan, with a
white outline only on the dorsal side there.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skye hatched approximately a year after the events of
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. She is a product of
parthenogenesis, and as such has no biological father. Her parents
were packmates and friends at the time, and would not become a couple
until a year later, but they raised her together and are both
considered parents by her. Her lack of protective scales or insulating
feathers slowed her
gaining independence in her early months, but she quickly caught
up in any life lessons requiring the ability to thermoregulate, as
soon as she started growing her plumage.
When she was about a year old,
she became a big sister - mom and dad were nice
enough to make her four little siblings to dazzle with all the skills
she'd had a year's headstart in gaining! Sometimes the little chicks
could be a nuisance, and when they were hatchlings they were more
babysitting charges than playmates, but as they grew, hanging out
with them started to be more fun.
Being the only chick in her clutch in a
small pack, with her only siblings a whole year younger, Skye spent a
lot of her childhood without company of
her own age.

When her pack crossed paths with
Survivor's pack on the mainland, Skye was very happy to meet Tumult.
The two girls quickly
became good friends, and soon their bond developed
into a courtship. After spending their subadult year making the most
of not having all the responsibilities of an adult yet, getting to
know each other well, and practicing their courtship dances for
eventually confirming their bond, they are now happily a pair and
parents of two little raptorlets, Tempest and
Cloudburst.
Skye is fairly confident in her ability to
handle danger, and in that at most situations she is the danger others
should watch out for. She can pick up on her parents reacting to
the presence of humans differently from how they would to any other
non-raptor creature, however. While as individuals humans are not
usually dangerous to raptors and can seem easy prey, Skye's parents
have learned before she even hatched that due to humans being intelligent, social hunters like the raptors
themselves and far more widespread, killing one is rarely without
consequences from the rest. Though offspring of an animal imprinted on
humans, Skye has been raised to avoid humans instead, like her parents
now do as well to their best ability.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beta doesn't exist in this AU, and Skye is a separate character,
though coincidentally they have some similarities. She was originally based on a mini toy figure of Blue, that I decided
was the regular-sized Blue figure's daughter instead of there being
two Blues on my shelf.
In comics her speech bubbles have been
colour-coded as very light blue in her earlier appearances, and most
recently as dark blue speech bubbles with a lighter blue outline, and
white text.
Sunny
"Can I
fight them?"
—Sunny, probably more than once in her life"Who put
Sunny in charge anyway?"
"She did."
—Starlight and Dawn
Sunny is a young
Indoraptor who doesn't look much like an
Indoraptor.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Energetic, playful,
fierce.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunny is a mostly scientifically accurate-looking
dromaeosaurid despite her parentage. Her three-digit
hands have supinated wrists with fully functional wings, she is fully feathered, and she is the only one in
her family so far to have round pupils. She is fully
bipedal. The first digit of her hands is partially
opposable.
Her head is yellow, with a
dark crest of longer feathers at the back of her head, and a dark stripe over
each
eye and down her neck. Her body is mostly dark brown, with
a white underbelly, and circular yellow patches on her
back and near the tip of her tail. The stripe starting at
her eyes contines as yellow along her flanks. She has yellow
flight
feathers, and her wings have black dorsal and yellow
ventral coverts. Her skin is grey, with blue markings
having developed around her red eyes as she's grown.
She hatched with soft, light
yellow down that had faint, brown stripes along the flanks. Over the next months as her natal down was replaced
with a coat of thicker thermal down, she gained more
pronounced markings in dark brown along her back and sides, and down the tops of her
limbs.
With her juvenile plumage of
pennaceous feathers her colours darkened a little and
her markings became more defined.
As of her latest appearance
she has been moulting into her adult plumage, but its
finished look hasn't showed up in a picture yet.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunny is part of Blue and the Indoraptor prototype's second
clutch, which are their first chicks that are both parents' biological offspring. She was the first
in her clutch to hatch.
She and her sister
Starlight have a similar, rowdy temperament and as a result have clashed
a lot, but Starlight is probably also the sibling Sunny is closest
with. For their early months they were pretty evenly matched in
strength, but as Starlight quickly grew bigger than
her, their confrontations became less physical and intense, seeing as they don't actually want to hurt each other.
Her clutchmates all growing bigger than her for a while was also a
good catalyst for rethinking her approach of considering herself to be at the top of a
pecking order in her clutch by virtue of being the oldest. Sunny likes to take the lead at things she
is involved in, but she has learned more diplomatic and considerate
ways of doing so as she's grown, and isn't quite as much of a terror
anymore in adulthood.
She is good friends with the Nublar pack's
young raptors who were juveniles at the same time as her. Perhaps
growing close with Soft steps in particular
has played a part in softening her a little.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In comics her speech bubbles have been colour-coded as yellow with a
brown outline, matching her plumage. |

Starlight
"What?
What are we doing? I wanna do that, too!"
—Starlight as soon as she heard there's something
Sunny would like to do
Starlight is a young
Indoraptor, and one of the first to hatch outside
captivity.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Curious, adventurous, competitive.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starlight is black with a grey underbelly that doesn't
reach her face, and a bright, blue-green stripe along
each flank from the corners of her eyes to near the tip of
her tail. She has four-digit hands with opposable thumbs
and long, dark brown claws. She has osteoderms along her
spine from the back of her head to the base of her tail,
but doesn't have the additional spikes on them
that her father has. She holds her sickle claws off the
ground more often than not, and can walk both bipedally
and quadrupedally. Her
teeth are big and crooked, and mostly don't fit in her mouth,
but she also has no lips to cover them. The shape of her
head is deeper and wider than that of Jurassic Park/World
Velociraptors and more like her father's. Her
eyes are golden yellow.
She hatched without any
feathers, and has scales on her skin, but has since
grown a coat of single-filament
protofeathers, like those found on some
tyrannosauroids. Her feathers are black, with some
grey on her chest. They grow
between the scales she already has, currently partially covering her green stripe.
As her plumage is not as thick as if she only had feathers,
her shiny scales peek out from under them, reflecting
light in small, twinkling spots. The feathers grow on most of her body, but her hands,
lower legs, belly, and under the base of her tail
remain featherless, and the osteoderms on her back poke
out from under the fluff. Her face has sparse wisps of
feathers, but is mostly scaly, except for some rather
bushy sideburns along her jawline. The feathers at the
back of her head are particularly long, forming a slightly
raised crest.
She is currently an adult, but
hasn't shown up in a picture at that age yet.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starlight is part of Blue and the Indoraptor prototype's second
clutch, which are their first chicks that are both parents' biological offspring. She and her
brother Dawn started and finished hatching at
practically the same time, so it's hard to say which one of them is older.
(Starlight says it's definitely her, though.)
She was the first in her clutch to catch prey (a fish).
She spent her early months feeling
somewhat overshadowed by her older sister Sunny, who despite their
only 2-hour age difference seemed to do everything better, or at least
be very confident about that being the case. Though their quarrels
were mostly play, a tinge of jealousy, perhaps on both sides, can't be
denied.
Growing out of their baby days hasn't calmed them down much, but
perhaps they have begun to see their competition as more of a chance
to challenge themselves to do better, than as a need to do better than
each other in particular.
Starlight likes investigating the world
around her, both by exploring and by wondering about things that may
not usually occur to a raptor to question.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In comics her speech bubbles have been colour-coded as turquoise
matching her stripe with a black outline in her earlier appearances,
and most lately as the colours reversed and her dialogue text in
white. |

Dawn
"I'd be
completely nice!"
—Dawn, probably truthfully Dawn is a
young
Indoraptor, and one of the first to hatch outside
captivity.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Calm, friendly, introvert.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dawn looks mostly like a Jurassic Park/World
Velociraptor, but he has bigger arms and four-digit hands with
opposable thumbs. He is bipedal, but can move
quadrupedally if necessary.
Like his mother, Dawn is
green-grey with a lighter, more cream-coloured underbelly, and has a blue
stripe along each flank starting at the corners of his
eyes. His blue stripes don't have a white outline. The top
of his head and snout, and along his spine between the
blue stripes is a darker green-grey than his base colour.
He has sparse horizontal stripes on his body in dark
green-grey. The insides of his palms are the same lighter
colour as his underbelly. He also has black markings: a row of vertical
stripes along his spine; black tip of the tail; and a "mask"
over his eyes that connects at and covers the tip of his
snout, and tapers towards the back of his head. His markings have darkened and grown
since his hatching.
His
eyes are orange-red with a yellow rim around the pupil.
He has grown the same kind of bumps
Blue has on her head at the back of his head, on his lower
back, and along the ulna of each arm. As he's gotten older those bumps
have started developing into quills. The quills are so far a solid
black colour.
He is currently an adult, but
hasn't shown up in a picture at that age yet.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dawn is part of Blue and the Indoraptor prototype's
second clutch, which are their first chicks that are both
parents' biological offspring. He and his sister
Starlight started and finished hatching at
practically the same time, so it's hard to say which one
of them is older (Starlight says it's her. Dawn doesn't
really care all that much).
Dawn gets along well with all of his
siblings - with his sisters sometimes by staying out of their way,
which he does for more reasons than just to avoid trouble. He makes
friends easily and likes company, but is also happy to spend time just
by himself. He is likely to be found a little outside the group,
either observing or occupied with something completely unrelated to
what the others are doing, and welcoming any siblings and friends who
are done playing and want a cuddle and a nap instead.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In comics his speech bubbles have been colour-coded as very light
yellow with a cyan outline. |

Dusk
"The
monster isn't going to eat me?"
"No, it's dead."
"Then... can I eat the monster?"
—Dusk being comforted by his father after an encounter with
a scary beast Dusk is
Blue
and the
Indoraptor prototype's youngest chick.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A little shy, but tenacious.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dusk mostly has the body structure of a Jurassic Park/World
Velociraptor, and is fully bipedal. His
forelimbs have supinated wrists and three digits, the
first of which is partially opposable. The shape of his head is a little deeper and wider than that
of JP/WVelociraptors. His teeth are slightly
crooked, but not very big, though a few poke out from
between his lips.
His eyes are yellow.
Dusk is grey with black
markings on the tips of his limbs and tail, along his back
and at the back of his head, and as large spots on his
sides. When he hatched, these
colours and markings could be seen on his skin, which only
had a few patches of dark down feathers covering it. The
down remained sparse for several months, growing mostly along
his back, at the back of his head, around the tip of his
tail, and on his thighs and upper arms, before finally
becoming more even and spreading to cover most of his body.
More recently he has grown his
juvenile plumage of
pennaceous feathers, including fully functional wings.
The dark markings on his feathers now roughly match those
on his skin. He has dark grey
flight
feathers, and his wings have black coverts on both
sides. The dorsal coverts have lighter grey specks on them.
He has a slight crest of raised feathers at the back of
his head, and a little tassel-like beard of soft feathers
under his chin.
On his skin he has a bright stripe along each
side that starts out
golden yellow near his eyes, changes to light orange on his neck,
to pink on his flanks, purple at the base of his tail, and
blue just before ending halfway down his tail. This
marking has not transferred to his juvenile plumage, and
is currently covered under the feathers, perhaps to make a
reappearance when he's older.
He has inherited the
Indominus rex's camoflaging ability from his father.
He can only use it on the very tip of his muzzle, though.
He is currently an adult, but
hasn't shown up in a picture at that age yet.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dusk is part of Blue and the Indoraptor prototype's second
clutch, which are their first chicks that are both parents' biological
offspring. He hatched last and a little smaller than his siblings, and
it took him over a year to catch up to them in size.
He also took longer than his
siblings to start communicating with vocalizations, and still isn't
very talkative, but those who know him and pay attention understand
him just fine. He appreciates when they remember as they talk to him
that he is sensitive to and sometimes stressed out by loud sounds.
He considers it a wise approach to be wary of most things bigger than
him, and of anything unexpected, but the full coat of feathers seems
to have helped give him a bit more confidence, making him less
dependent on his parents for protection from the elements. No longer
being the smallest one in the pack and having smaller friends and
family members to
protect might also play a part.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In comics his speech bubbles have been colour-coded as pink with a
dark purple outline. He speaks quietly, so his dialogue is usually in
lowercase. |

Survivor
"A parent
isn't here to feed them, but that the other infant is fed
feels like the correct outcome, and since she can without
having to go hungry herself, she makes it happen."
—Last Queens of Thieves, chapter 4
Survivor is a
Velociraptor who grew up on
Isla Nublar in the aftermath of the fall of
Jurassic Park. She is seen hatching in
the first Jurassic Park movie.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Determined and caring, a mother hen ever
since she was a baby herself.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Survivor has colouring and patterns typical of the first
variation of Jurassic Park
Velociraptors; shades of brown with darker
stripes and a lighter underbelly. The top of her head is
dark, with the colour reaching over her snout and around
her eyes. Many of her stripes have a slight crescent moon
shape. Her brown colouring has a very faint purple tint.
Her eyes are yellow.
At an older age she gains
several scars: two
short, vertical scars over her mouth on the left side of
her head; a small scar under her right eye; slash scars
across the front of both of her legs; and scars from
some kind of injury to her tail.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Survivor is one of the last
Velociraptors to have hatched at
the laboratory in the Jurassic Park Visitor Center, and
the last Velociraptor to have hatched there with humans present.
While as a lab-made dinosaur she was born without biological parents, she and the three other
hatchlings in the incubator with her were briefly adopted and cared
for by The
Big One and one of her packmates, but the hatchlings soon had to start
fending for themselves anyway after the death of their adoptive
parents. Though a newborn herself, Survivor did her best to
look after her small, young pack, and managed to keep them alive for
three months by themselves, until they ran into Leader and were
adopted into her pack.
Survivor grew up to be respected and
looked up to among the young raptors she spent her childhood with,
even when she was no longer forced by circumstances to take
responsibillity for their safety, and she embraced this role she found
herself suited for. As an adult she became the head of the southern
pack formed by these young raptors, and remained so for many years,
with her childhood friend Squeak becoming her
mate. They made their nest in the park's original Velociraptor
paddock. |

After humans returned to the island to
start building
Jurassic World, and Leader was killed in a confrontation with them,
the remaining raptors merged their two packs into one, with Survivor
becoming the new head of the whole raptor family. They carefully hid
from the humans, and did their best to persevere in secret through the new park's building and ten-year run. Though many pack members were lost
due to being discovered by humans, hunting
injuries, and even starvation in their new way of life as practically
ghosts, under her care some lived to escape as stowaways to the
mainland, when
Mount Sibo's eruption made the island
uninhabitable.
Aboard
the boat
they hid on to hitch a ride to the mainland, Survivor and the others
found out there had been a raptor on the island they hadn't known
about, and spent the journey wondering what had happened to
Blue to cause
her to sound hurt and whether they would be able to help her. The pack
had to make their escape without this new raptor, but hoping Blue
would heal from her injuries and find her way out of captivity as well,
Survivor never gave up hope they would be able to meet her one day.
Two and a half years later, this wish finally came true. Delighted to
find her alive and well, Survivor welcomed Blue and her pack to share
their territory, effectively merging the two packs.
After a brief dominance display between the two pack matriarchs to get
to know each other and test each other's competence, both were impressed with each other's neither backing down from
nor escalating the confrontation and the good judgement on handling
conflicts it represents. Now mutually convinced of both packs having
been in capable hands, Survivor and Blue each remain the heads of
their respective families, similarly to Survivor's
relationship with Leader when they each had their own pack but lived
as one community.

Squeak
"She

anyone. Immediately, she receives a snap in return,
which she's pretty sure is not supposed to happen."
—Survivor's first one-on-one
interaction with her,
Last Queens of Thieves,
chapter 4Squeak is a
Velociraptor who grew up on
Isla Nublar in the aftermath of the fall of
Jurassic Park, and one of the raptors who eventually
migrated to the mainland.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Assertive, direct.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Squeak has colouring and patterns typical of the first
variation of Jurassic Park
Velociraptors; shades of brown with darker
stripes and a lighter underbelly. The top of her head is
dark, with the colour reaching over her snout and around
her eyes, but the edges of her brows are light. Her brown
colouring has a very faint yellow tint. Her eyes are green.
She has three prominent scars
that she gained as a hatchling. There are two scratchmarks
on her left flank, mostly vertical but tilted a little
towards the front of her body. She has a long and a bit
jagged scar down
her face - near the middle but left of her nostrils - which
splits a gap in her upper lip but doesn't reach her
lower lip.
Later injuries on her right shoulder and leg,
and on her tail have also left scars. Her left
leg is functional but permanently weakened, from having
broken when she was a hatchling and healed without a
splint. It looks a little bent at mid-shin, and has less
developed musculature. At an older age she often avoids
putting weight on it while standing, some times more
subtly than others.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Squeak is the last
Velociraptor to have hatched at
the laboratory in the Jurassic Park Visitor Center.
She had a
rough start on life, becoming orphaned and injured on her first day
out of the egg, with only other hatchlings to help her along. She made
it through the worst anyway and healed, protected and fed by her three
young packmates whose lives she had bled to save, and was adopted by Leader into her pack when she
and the chicks she had hatched with where three months old. |

She has been close to Survivor since they
were little, and the two of them became a couple as they grew up and
established a pack of their own.
Despite her beginnings, Squeak has lived
to be one of the oldest Velociraptors of her time.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In comics her speech bubbles have been colour-coded as light green
with a brown outline.
Leader
Leader is a
Velociraptor, who lived on Isla Nublar after the fall of
Jurassic Park. She and her packmates appear in
Jurassic Park: The Game.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Protective, prudent.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leader is brown with darker brown stripes and a lighter
brown underbelly. Her face has only a few markings. Her
eyes are green.
She has a long, relatively
neat-edged scar diagonally
across the left side of her face, going over her eye and
reaching down to the bottom of her jaw. Her left eye is
cloudier and has limited vision.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leader hatched at the
Jurassic Park laboratory on
Isla Sorna. She spent her growing years in an enclosure with
several other raptors her age, two of them being
Swiftdive and
Treeclimber. Though the young raptors formed genuine bonds with each
other, they grew up to be a pack most of all defined by their desire
to escape and their cooperated efforts to do so. Leader's original
name reflects her place in that pack, as the one to come
up with escape plans.
In June 1993, Leader and four other young adult raptors -
Swiftdive, Treeclimber, Striker, and Watchful - were moved to Isla Nublar
with the intention of introducing them to the park's unexpectedly
depleted Velociraptor pack. Until that could be safely arranged,
they were kept in
Quarantine Pens. With the head of their old pack not being
with them, Leader took charge of the group, first with the
intention of it being temporary, but accepting the
position as permanent when it became clear they were not
going to be able to reunite with the rest of the pack.
During the
incident, the raptors managed to escape from
their pens out into the park. After exploring for a while they
attacked a
Parasaurolophus herd, killing one of its members, before going
after the humans they also found at the Parasaurolophus enclosure. |

One of the humans managed to kill one of the raptors and injure Leader,
giving her the distinct scar over her eye. Though Leader
killed him soon after, the damage was done, and
after leaving the power plant the humans had retreated to,
the raptors found they had lost both Watchful and Striker
- one to the humans, the other to the
Tyrannosaurus. Despite this, the refuge and
new home that the remaining raptors found ended up being
the
Tyrannosaurus paddock, when it became clear the
larger carnivore did not want to return to her old
enclosure
now that she had a choice. There, Leader, Swiftdive, and
Treeclimber built their nest, and raised many little
raptors together as a "pair" bond of three. Soon before
their first offspring hatched, Leader ran into four
orphaned raptor chicks - Survivor,
Dare, Dash, and
Squeak - and took them in as
children of her pack.
Sadly, three of the chicks
from her first clutch did not live to adulthood. Mourning
their recent loss made it difficult for her to focus on
dealing with
humans suddenly returning to the island, but
she kept the rest of her family safe, patiently waiting
and having them all hide in their nest until the humans
had left.
After the establishing of the
southern pack headed by Survivor, she remained in contact
and cooperation with the younger adults, and they would
often hunt together and visit each other. During the years that
followed, she enjoyed a relatively peaceful period in her
life, caring for her pack, raising more chicks, helping
look after her grandchildren, and doing her best to carve
out a niche for her species in the island's ecosystem.
When
humans returned to the
island a second time, in greater numbers and apparently to
stay, Leader still tried to avoid going near them, but
couldn't stave off the confrontation forever. She was
killed defending a group of her grown-up chicks. Though
she could not save them all, it's due to her holding off
the humans that Whirlwind
survived the incident.
Swiftdive
Swiftdive is a
Velociraptor, who lived on Isla Nublar after the fall of
Jurassic Park. She and her packmates appear in
Jurassic Park: The Game.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Somewhat high-strung,
which serves her well as a hunter with quick reflexes.
Prone to bouts of nervous and restless behavior when left
without a constructive outlet for her energy. Dislikes
conflict but has a knack for causing it.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Swiftdive has colouring and patterns typical of the first
variation of Jurassic Park
Velociraptors; shades of brown with darker
stripes and a lighter underbelly. Her brown
colouring has a very faint yellow tint. Her eyes are green.
She has a dark patch over each
eye. On the right side, the patch continues as a vertical
stripe from under her eye to almost touching her mouth.

Over the next months the three raptors got used to life outside
captivity, and grew closer to each other, beginning to show interest
in nesting. This prompted a
change in Treeclimber's biology made possible by the
frog DNA
used in his creation, and the trio became able to produce chicks.
After short-lived confusion about how to pair up in a group of an odd
number, the three of them became a "pair" bond of three. With two
clutches they incubated, and four chicks Leader found orphaned in the
woods and adopted into the pack, the three young adults' first nesting
season was challenging. While three chicks sadly did not make it to
adulthood, most of their children got to grow up and thrive despite
the difficulties.
After many years of relatively peaceful life, the humans' return to
the island to begin building
Jurassic World led to confrontation
between them and the raptors, and both Leader and Swiftdive were
killed, along with several of their children. Under the guidance of
Survivor, the pack hid and clung to life in the remote, unbuilt parts
of the island, and some of them did eventually get to escape the
island to the mainland during the eruption of
Mount Sibo. Treeclimber
did not live to see that, but he can be assumed to have on his part
helped ensure that his remaining packmates could.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
His death is not explicitly mentioned in
Last Queens of
Thieves, but Survivor is said to be the oldest
Velociraptor alive at the time, and Treeclimber would be about
three years older than her.
Dare
Dare is a
Velociraptor who grew up on
Isla Nublar in the aftermath of the fall of
Jurassic Park.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inquisitive, brave.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

variation of Jurassic Park
Velociraptors. He grew up with a colouration of
shades of brown, but a few years into adulthood his scales
changed to a different colour palette, while keeping the
same patterns. His base colour is orange, with dark
stripes, and a white underbelly. His eyes are yellow like
they have been since he hatched.
Distinguishing features about
his patterns include a dark tip of the snout including the
chin, and the top of his head being dark but his brows
being orange instead. The tip of his
tail is also orange.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dare is one of the last
Velociraptors to have hatched at
the laboratory in the Jurassic Park Visitor Center. Though born without biological parents,
he and the three other
hatchlings in the incubator with him were briefly adopted and cared
for by The
Big One and one of her packmates, but they soon had to start
fending for themselves anyway after the death of their adoptive
parents. After three months on their own, they were adopted into
Leader's pack after running into her
on a hunt.
Dare grew up with the other chicks in the
pack. He remained especially close to his fellow lab hatchling
Dash, and the two of them became a couple a few
years after reaching adulthood. This development also prompted a
change in his biology made possible by the
frog DNA
used in his creation, enabling the pair to produce chicks.
Along with Finder,
Dare is his pack's primary scout. |

Grappleclaws is mostly yellow, with a broad stripe of
orange along each flank from his snout to the base of his

He has a white underbelly and dark stripes that are
similar to other individuals of the first

of bands around the tail with a large spot
between each band on both sides, and
the tip of his tail is dark.
He has dark splotch patterns
around his eyes. His eyes are a pinkish red with a thin yellow rim
around the pupil.
He acquires several scars over
the course of his adult life, probably the most distinct
of them being a long slash wound diagonally across the
middle of his back, with a few smaller parallel scars
around it.

hazardous in search for food), and some scarring near her left shoulder.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whirlwind was the first of Leader,
Swiftdive, and Treeclimber's
offspring to hatch, in the nest they established in Jurassic Park's
old Tyrannosaurus paddock, months after humans had abandoned
the island. Her biological parents are Swiftdive
and Treeclimber, but their mate Leader is just as much parent to her.
Along with her sister Triptail, Whirlwind
is one of her pack's fastest runners. In her own opinion at least, she
is the fastest one.
Having made it through the pack's long
period of hiding from humans while both inhabited Isla Nublar again,
Whirlwind is one of the Velociraptors who migrated to the
mainland to escape
Mount Sibo's
eruption. If age has slowed her down at all, she's unlikely to admit
it. |

While she has never settled down with a
nesting mate (a choice probably influenced by most of her generation
consisting of her siblings, but she doesn't seem too dissatisfied
about it), rumor (which all involved will be happy to confirm if asked)
has it that she has at some point courted in a more casual manner each
of the four raptors in her generation who had hatched outside the
pack.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Her patterns are based on the
Tribe B Velociraptors from
Jurassic Park: Trespasser. The less flashy colours are due to
her being female, while the raptors in the game are presumably all
male. I consider this a colour morph rather than a subspecies.
Triptail
Triptail is a
Velociraptor who grew up on
Isla Nublar after the fall of
Jurassic Park. She is a descendant of the raptors who
appear in
Jurassic Park: The Game.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Very social even by Jurassic Park
Velociraptor standards, and likes to be included, even
when she doesn't always know what's going on and is easily distracted
from it.
When it's time to be serious
she is among the first to comfort a sad packmate or to
understand to give them space until they're ready to seek
comforting.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Triptail has colouring and patterns typical of the first
variation of Jurassic Park
Velociraptors; shades of brown with darker
stripes and a lighter underbelly. Her eyes are green.
Her most distinctive feature
is a stripe of her underbelly colour going over the top of
her snout, and a "mustache" of her stripe colour. The tip
of her tail is dark.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Triptail hatched in the raptor nest established in Jurassic Park's old
Tyrannosaurus paddock, months after humans had abandoned the
island. Her biological parents are Swiftdive and
Treeclimber, but their mate
Leader is just as much parent to her.
Along with her sister Whirlwind, Triptail
is one of her pack's fastest runners. She makes for an especially
unpredictable prey chaser, as she doesn't always know exactly which
way she is going to turn next, herself, making her moves impossible to
anticipate. Though there are risks to this, her packmates know to take
it into consideration, and she is an asset to any hunting team she is
part of. One of her memorable feats is turning a misstep into a twirl
that tripped up the prey with her tail. |

She and Shredder
are responsible for the discovery of swimming as a fun pastime among
the raptors she grew up with. Being good at this skill has proven to
be a life-saving ability on several occasions as well, including when
the remaining pack had to make a quick getaway from the boat they
hitched a ride on to the mainland.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Her occasional trouble with
coordination and focus is likely a neurological condition. Finder
Finder is a
Velociraptor who grew up on
Isla Nublar after the fall of
Jurassic Park. He is a descendant of the raptors who
appear in
Jurassic Park: The Game.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Considerate, observant.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finder has colouring and patterns typical of the first
variation of Jurassic Park
Velociraptors; orange base colour, dark stripes,
and a white underbelly. His eyes are yellow.
As his most distinctive
feature, both of his eyes have dark circles around them,
open in the middle so directly around his eye is his base
colour. On both sides the circles connect to a vertical
stripe that continues from under the ring to the bottom of his jaw.
While having dark along the
back in a lengthwise stripe that the vertical stripes
connect to is common for raptors of this version, Finder's
patterns don't include that, and the vertical stripes just cross over his back to the other side of the body.
The backs of his hands are dark entirely rather than
striped. The tip of his tail is orange.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finder hatched the day after his clutchmate sisters
Whirlwind and Triptail
did, in the raptor nest established in Jurassic Park's old
Tyrannosaurus paddock, months after humans had abandoned the
island. His biological parents are Swiftdive and
Treeclimber, but their mate
Leader is just as much parent to him.
He is the biological father of Squeak's
chicks, but the two of them are not a pair and see each other as
packmates and friends. He, Squeak, her mate
Survivor, and Grappleclaws, who is the
biological father of Survivor's chicks, all raised their young
together, with the help of the rest of their packmates, and are all
happy with the arrangement. |

Tree-stain paws
Tree-stain paws is one of
Survivor's grown-up chicks, and
mother of
Tumult, Daydreamer, and
Soft steps.
She is one of the raptors who migrated to the mainland,
and among the first in her pack to have met
their new neighbors.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Creative, with a generous helping of
wanderlust.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tree-stain paws is otherwise a typical female Jurassic Park
raptor with stripes in shades of brown, but she has
inherited the noticeably yellow tint of her base colour
from her biological father and his unusual colour morph.
In terms of markings, her most distinguishing feature is
that her head is almost fully dark, with just the lower
jaw being in her base colour. Her light underbelly colour
doesn't extend to her neck or face. Her eyes are yellow.
She has a patch of slash wound
scars on her right side, one reaching up to her neck.
While living on
Isla Nublar, she
often has on her,
especially on her limbs, yellow-orange
tree resin stains, from which she gets her name.
After leaving the island and those particular trees, the
stains become a less frequent accessory.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tree-stain paws is one of the chicks Survivor had with
Grappleclaws, after founding the southern pack with her
mate Squeak and some other raptors from their generation.
She grew up doted on by her two mothers, her biological
father, the biological father of her other mother's chicks,
and every adult in both her pack and in her grandparents'
pack.
She spent her early adult
years, too, in a relatively peaceful environment. The
former Jurassic Park T. rex paddock, and by then
also the original Velociraptor paddock, were her
species' domain, and with a
sizeable raptor population around her, there was not
much she needed to fear as long as she didn't stray too
far from home.
Which isn't to say she didn't often do
exactly that. |

One of her favorite look-out
spots when hunting, and sometimes when just wanting to
look around and wonder about the vast water that
surrounded their island and what might be on the other
side of it, was a group of tall trees at the
coast. Climbing up there would often leave her stained
with tree resin and smelling of it. She soon learned this
side-effect could be made into a useful hunting tool, with
the unthreatening tree resin smell covering her own scent
from prey.
Her safe surroundings and her
adventurous nature eventually led to carelessness, and an
accident she still bears scars from. In the care and
protection of her pack, however, she was able to recover
from her wounds.
She was six years old when the
humans returned to the island for the building of
Jurassic World.
She had never seen humans before, and though initially
curious about them, she soon found them to be creatures of
nightmare when several members of her family went missing
and were eventually found to have been killed by them.
After a long and stressful period in her life, hiding on
an island with an active theme-park teeming with humans,
never knowing when her next meal would be since it had to
be caught without humans noticing, finally the humans left
and the pack came out of hiding. Not long after, the
volcano on the island became active, and the island
unhabitable. The pack managed to escape to the mainland by
hiding on
a boat.
A year into her new life on
the mainland, at twenty-three years old, she had her first
chick, whom she named Tumult as a
wish for this new member of the pack to be a sign of
changing times and strong enough to withstand the
disturbance of established order that their presence in
their new environment would bring. A year later, she and
her mate Serene had another clutch,
hatching Tumult two little siblings,
Daydreamer and Soft steps.
While out on a hunt one day, teaching her by then
eighteen-month-old firstborn the many techniques of
coordinated trapping of large prey, Tree-stain paws became
one of the first raptors in her pack to encounter their
new neighbors when the group suddenly ran into the
Indoraptor prototype, who was scouting out a new home
for the pack he and
Blue
had established. Recognizing Blue's scent as that of the
raptor they had sensed while smuggling themselves off Isla
Nublar, her pack was happy to find out that the raptor they
wished they could have helped back then was alive and well.
The two packs agreed to share the territory, and it didn't
take long for them to merge into one community. Tree-stain
paws' children have found friends in the new chicks added
to the pack, as she has in their parents, and Tumult's
friendship with their oldest chick, Skye,
soon even developed into a courtship.
Occasionally Tree-stain paws'
and her mate's friendship with their new packmates has
developed in that direction, too, and the four of them
have grown very close.
With Tumult and Skye's first
clutch having hatched, Tree-stain paws is happy to have
become a grandmother.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Meripihka", the name I like to call her out-of-universe, is the word for amber in my first language, Finnish, and its
literal translation is "sea resin". The raptors in-universe just call her "Tree-stain paws", though, because they have no
idea what amber is or why it has an important enough role in the
Jurassic Park franchise for someone to make references to it in naming
a kind of amber-coloured dinosaur.
Her appearance is based on the yellow and brown JW Battle Damage
raptor figure.
In comics her speech bubbles have been colour-coded as light yellow
with a dark blue outline.
Tumult
"Ooh, I always tear the head off, too! We have so much in

adults?"
"We can handle this."
—Daydreamer and Tumult as juveniles, stalking a
potential threat Tumult
is the first member of the Jurassic Park
Velociraptor pack to have hatched on
the mainland.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brash, but not unkind. Likes investigating
and trying new things, prefers to find out for herself
whether she should have.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like many other female Velociraptors of the same
version as her,
Tumult has a colour palette of shades of brown, stripe
patterns, and a lighter underbelly. Her markings have a
reddish tint to them, which appears more purple in some
lightings. She
has dark around her eyes and on the top of her head, and
other than that the only markings on her face are a few
scattered spots. The tip of her tail is dark. Her eyes are orange.
In her earlier appearances her
scales' colours were lighter and more muted, as she
gradually changed from a unisex baby colouring to her
adult one, but the shape of her markings has remained the
same.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After remaining hidden during the building of
Jurassic World
and the years the park was operational, what was left of
Survivor's pack traveled to the
mainland as stowaways, when
the island
they had only just begun to refamiliarize themselves with
became uninhabitable due to the eruption of Mt. Sibo. They
reached their new homeland miraculously undetected.
It took some time for the pack
to get used to life with
more space and freedom of movement again, a luxury some of
the younger generation had barely gotten to experience
before they had had to go into hiding. Slowly, health of the
stressed and starving pack members began to improve.
Eventually they were ready to nest again, for the first
time in over a decade. A year after their arrival on the
mainland, Survivor's daughter Tree-stain paws and
Dash and Dare's son Serene had a clutch of eggs.
Though the clutch may have had more eggs in it than one,
Tumult is the only one who hatched.
She spent her first year as
the pack's doted-on only child, with attention and care of
all the adults, but no playmates her own age. |

The next
nesting season her parents had a new clutch incubating,
but sadly it was lost when it was almost ready to hatch.
Her uncles Singer and
Beetlebiter had better luck, though, and welcomed into
the world Tumult's cousin,
Ruckus, who like Tumult was the only hatchling
in her clutch. Despite their age difference, the two
chicks got along well, and Tumult was happy to be a big
sister of a kind. Tumult's parents even had a new clutch
later in the season, hatching Daydreamer and
Soft steps, so Tumult now had three new
family members to play with.
Tumult sometimes found
babysitting her younger siblings and cousin a little
overwhelming, and had to keep reminding herself that
they're babies and not always suited for the kind of play
and long expeditions she liked. Since her pack had several adults in addition
to her parents, she didn't need to take on as much responsibility
for the younger chicks as she might in a smaller pack, but as much as
she loves them, she still wished for a friend of her own
age.
She considers one of the best days of her
life so far the one on which her parents and grandmothers found
the lone raptor
from
the island they grew up on, whom they had been looking for since
before Tumult hatched, and invited that raptor and her pack to live
with them. More importantly, it was the day she met Skye.
The two young raptors quickly became close
friends, and from there it didn't take long for their relationship to
deepen into a courtship. Both still being subadults, they took
their time practicing their courting rituals and not feeling inclined
to participate in the following nesting season. They knew all along
that it's each other they'd choose, but the dances and gift exchanges
of mate selection felt like an important step, and were a good way of
getting to know each other even better and building a strong and
harmonious bond.
She and Skye are now happily a pair and
parents of two little raptorlets, Tempest and
Cloudburst.

any on her behalf. She is often protective of the younger
chicks in her pack, and has sometimes done foolish things
trying to measure up to the older ones.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ruckus has stripe patterns and a lighter underbelly in
shades of brown. In her latest appearance in a picture her
colours are still duller and lighter than an adult
female
Velociraptor of her version would have.
She has a large, dark patch on
her chin. On the left side of her face she has a
dark spot around the eye, with a vertical stripe under it
that continues past the mouth.

Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ruckus hatched as the only one in her clutch, on the North American mainland two years after
her
pack smuggled themselves there from Isla Nublar.
At the time of her hatching, the only
other chick in the pack was her cousin Tumult,
who is a year older than her. A few months later Tumult's parents'
second clutch hatched
Daydreamer, and Soft
steps, giving Ruckus playmates a little closer to her own age. The
four of them have been getting along well ever since, even if they haven't always had the exact same
idea of what's a fun way of playing. |

When she was about half a year old,
Blue and the
Indoraptor prototype joined the pack with their children. Sunny,
Starlight, Dawn, and
Dusk actually are pretty much the same age as
Ruckus, and with them she has an easier time both keeping up with them and not being too rough
for
playing with a tinier chick, like has sometimes been an issue with her cousins as
her only playmates. As they have gotten older, the age difference with
Daydreamer and Soft steps has started feeling less significant,
too, with no one in the group being a literal hatchling anymore.
Ruckus likes looking after the younger
members of her pack, though, and was delighted to become an older
sister with the hatching of
Whistler and Whisper,
and more recently an aunt, as Tumult and her mate Skye had their first clutch of their very own.

Personality

Physical appearance

Daydreamer's scales have a light yellow base colour, with
patches of yellow-orange, lighter underbelly, and a broad
streak of darker brown along the back and around the eyes
that fringes into small stripes along the edges of the
colour. Ey have sparsely placed black stripes across eir
back, snout, tail, and limbs. There is a spot of the
underbelly colour on eir left brow, and it also covers
much of eir limbs.
Eir eyes are yellow.
At Daydreamer's first
appearance as a hatchling eir patterns hadn't yet
developed into more than dappled spots. Later ey spent eir
juvenile years with mostly the same patterns ey have as an
adult, though the darker streak along the back was a
little simpler without the fringed edge, and ey had the
typical juvenile colouring of light and dull shades
of brown, which gradually brightened into adult colours.

While tiny,
Daydreamer spent eir days with eir equally tiny clutchmate and trying to keep up with their older sister

Blue and the
Indoraptor prototype and their children coming to live with
them. Though their younger chicks were still a bit older, Daydreamer was used to being one of the tiniest ones around,
and fit well into the group of friends they formed. Eventually ey even had to get used to being one of the bigger chicks of
the pack!
Having grown up, Daydreamer's scales have grown brighter and gained
their adult colours. Eir variation of Jurassic Park
Velociraptor generally has sexually dimorphic
colouring, but Daydreamer's appearance doesn't make very clear whether
ey're male or female. Whether Daydreamer is male or female or

Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I used ey/em/eir pronouns for Daydreamer in this profile due to this
set of pronouns being gender-neutral, and not as easy to confuse with
plural "they" as the also gender-neutral singular "they" would have
been, considering the profile also refers to groups of raptors several
times. Comics and image captions written while ey were a juvenile use
he/him/his pronouns. Any pronouns are fine to use for Daydreamer,
though.
Daydreamer's baby toy figure has different colouring from how I've drawn
em as a baby,
because it's a minifigure intended to be depicting an adult raptor, but I wanted
em
to have baby colours. I didn't repaint the figure, since
it's one of the original JP ones from the 90's and I prefer to leave
it as it is. Eir markings are based on that minifigure, as are eir
recent adult colours.
In comics eir speech bubbles have been colour-coded as light yellow
with a light brown outline in eir first comic appearance, and more
recently as the colours reversed.
Victoria
"[Blue]
remembers there was another sister in place of Charlie in
the very beginning, but then she went away, and a while
later Charlie was brought into the pack."
—Last Queens of Thieves,
chapter 7Victoria
was a raptor Blue, Delta, and Echo knew as hatchlings, and
may or may not have been the same raptor as
Subject V-2.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Considered aggressive and unpredictable as
a chick?
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victoria is a warm shade of grey with purple markings
along her back and around her eyes. She has two small,
vertical scars on her snout. Her claws are light brown,
and her eyes are orange.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victoria hatched a little after Blue and a little before
Delta and Echo. She was originally intended to be part of
the
I.B.R.I.S. project, but was deemed unsuitable while
still very young, possibly due to health or behavior
complications, and was subsequently euthanized. Charlie
was incubated as a replacement for her.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Her appearance is based on one of the raptor figures from
the JW Legacy Collection, and her backstory on the
possible explanation for why Charlie's place in the
pack's alphabet theme naming doesn't match her place in
the raptors' order by age. |
|
Victoria |
|
|
|
Whether she is supposed to be Subject
V-2 in particular or if that was a different rejected raptor that
lived and died before Blue and her sisters even hatched, I'm not
entirely sure, but either way she is dead, so I guess I don't have to
decide if I don't want to. I painted those scars V-2 has in her
concept art on the toy figure in any case. I think of the figure as
being what she would have looked like if she got to grow up.
In comics her speech bubbles have been
colour-coded as orange with a purple outline.
Serene
Serene is one
of Dash and Dare's
chicks. He is Tree-stain paws'
mate, and father of Tumult,
Daydreamer, and
Soft steps. He is one
of the Velociraptors who migrated to the mainland,
and also one of the first in his pack to meet
their new neighbors.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As his name implies, Serene is good at
staying calm in a scary situation, and can be a soothing presence for his packmates, too. He has a
mischievous side that hasn't gotten to show as much,
though playing with his unruly children helps with that.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Serene has colouring typical of the males of the first
variation of Jurassic Park
Velociraptors. His base colour is orange, with dark
stripes, and a white underbelly.
His eyes are yellow.
The top of his head is mostly
solid dark, but his brows are orange, like on his father.
He has a small, dark spot near the tip of his otherwise
white chin. The back of his neck is dark with orange spots
along the spine. The tip of his tail is dark.
He has three thin,
vertical scars on his right leg.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Serene is one of the last of his pack to have hatched on
Isla Nublar.
He spent his juvenile years in a relatively safe environment,
with a big family to protect and guide him, and many other young
raptors to play with. In addition to his siblings, Leader's second
clutch and Survivor and Squeak's offspring were still chicks when he
hatched, though they are a bit older, and he and his siblings weren't
as close with them until they were all adults. |

Not long after, the safety of his
childhood home was shattered by the return of the humans, and the pack
had to find a different way of life. Serene had grown up with his species
being well-off and formidable among the island's residents, but in his adulthood they
had to learn to be sneaking shadows, getting by on whatever scraps
they could find in terms of both food and shelter. Serene and his
siblings adapted fairly well, however, having only barely had the
chance to know any better. For some of them this sadly led to
overestimating their skills in avoiding detection by humans, and not
all of them lived to escape the island.
By the time the pack was able to live more
freely again, Serene was twenty years old. Tree-stain paws had become a
dear friend to him, but their living conditions being so dangerous and
stressful had put a halt on nesting cycles that could have prompted
the relationship to turn into a pair bond. A year after migrating to
the mainland their life and health had stabilized enough to nest again,
and the two of them finally became mates and parents.
The chicks have been a handful, and neither
Serene
or Tree-stain paws are very young anymore despite parenthood being a
relatively new experience for them, but he loves his little troublemakers.
His oldest child now has little troublemakers of
her own, and Serene is happy to help look after his grandchildren.

He has a dark patch on his
chin, and two smaller, white spots on the tip of his snout
just above the nostrils.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Singer is one of the last of his pack to have hatched on
Isla Nublar.
He spent his growing years in a relatively safe environment, enjoying
the care and protection of a sizeable raptor population, playing with his siblings, and learning
skills needed as an adult member of the pack. Singer especially showed
great aptitude for stealth and observation, and would often tag along
with his father for the less dangerous scouting
errands.
The need for long-distance communication
on such outings led to discovering another skill he could excel at,
and for which he is named - Singer is particularly good at calls that
are high-pitched enough that some of their prey don't hear them at all
and remain unaware of the raptors' presence. He can also imitate the
sounds other creatures make fairly well.
As an adult he became close friends with
Beetlebiter, who, like Singer, had started
joining his father, Finder, on patrols around
the raptors' territory. |

Beetlebiter proved less suited for the role of a
scout, but what he lacked in patience, he made up for in enthusiasm
for discovering new things and sharing anything interesting and amusing he came across. The two friends became a
balancing influence on each other, with Singer grounding Beetlebiter
at his more whimsical, and Beetlebiter encouraging Singer to look at
things from new and unexpected angles. In addition to the scout
training, which his siblings would also sometimes join in on, Singer
started going on journeys around the island with his friend, more for entertainment than for work. Sometimes other
raptors would join in, especially Beetlebiter's sister
Tree-stain paws, who shared his curiosity for
new places, but often it was just the two of them, and along with the
traveling they found they enjoyed each other's company very much.
Eventually the friendship became a pair
bond, and even produced a clutch of eggs, but unfortunately before the
eggs were due to hatch, the pack had to relocate to somewhere safer
from humans, who suddenly returned to the island to begin building
Jurassic World. They did their best to transport the eggs safely
and not let them get cold, but whether it was due to the disturbance
to their incubation or some other reason, none of them hatched. While
still mourning the loss of their clutch and too stressed to have
another, the young couple along with the rest of the pack had to
move on and adapt to their new circumstances for survival.
In their long years of hiding, being able to make sounds humans couldn't hear was
certainly a valuable skill, and if it occasionally attracted a runaway
pet they could get away with not letting be found, all the better.
Though nesting was too dangerous to consider, the pair bond between
Singer and Beetlebiter persevered. After the pack left the island and healed,
they finally got their second chance at parenthood,
and this time one egg was indeed viable, hatching little
Ruckus. A year later their third clutch hatched
Ruckus two little siblings, Whistler and
Whisper.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In comics his speech bubbles have been colour-coded as orange with a
white outline. Beetlebiter
Beetlebiter
is one of Squeak's chicks. He is
Singer's mate, and father of
Ruckus, Whistler,

of the Velociraptors who migrated to the mainland.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Excitable, clever, good at finding little
things to be happy about.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beetlebiter's patterns are large, red splotches with dark
outlines, on a light brown background with a white underbelly.
He has dark around his eyes, with two stripes reaching
down to his mouth on both sides of his face. He grew up with his colouring resembling more his aunt
Whirlwind's shades of brown, but
over the first two years after reaching adulthood his
patterns continued to grow brighter and darker. His eyes are
yellow-green.
He has four roughly parallel scars on his left thigh. His
tail has broken at some point, and though it's already
healed it gets a sharp kink to it in some positions at
about two thirds towards the tip.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beetlebiter hatched at the nest his mother Squeak
and her mate Survivor made in
Jurassic Park's original raptor paddock (distinct from the holding
pen the park's adult raptors were kept in during the
incident that led to humans fleeing the island), after Survivor
had established a new pack there with some other raptors
from their generation. He and his siblings, as which he counts both his
clutchmates and the chicks hatched from Survivor's clutch, were
raised by their four biological parents with the help of the rest of
the pack, as well as his grandparents' pack.
Though his appearance is a little unusual
in more than just the shape of his patterns, it has not caused much
confusion. The colouring he had when reaching adulthood would have
indicated him as a female, but when his markings gained a palette more
indicative of a male, this was just accepted by the pack as how things
are now. Male or female, he is a beloved packmate and
family member. As his current colouring is that of a male of his
colour morph, he and the other raptors consider him to be male. |

Beetlebiter has always been interested in
finding new things about the world around him, and the things about it
he finds interesting can be sometimes surprising. At about five years
old he
started wanting to learn to be a scout for the pack like his
biological father, but staying still and
quiet wasn't one of his strengths, and his attention could get
directed at all kinds of things outside the task at hand. He did,
however, find he liked the attention of his fellow scout trainee,
Singer, and the two young adults became good
friends.
Eventually the friendship became a pair
bond, and even produced a clutch of eggs. That the two of them would
be able to have offspring together wasn't really questioned, and
the new eggs were welcomed and celebrated.
Their timing ended up not being ideal, as
before the eggs were due to hatch, the pack had to relocate to
somewhere safer from humans, who suddenly returned to the island to
begin building
Jurassic World. They did their best to transport the eggs safely
and not let them get cold, but whether it was due to the disturbance
to their incubation or some other reason, none of them hatched. While
still mourning the loss of their clutch and too stressed to have
another, the young couple along with the rest of the pack had to
move on and adapt to their new circumstances for survival.
Beetlebiter proved to have a knack for
finding unusual food sources and ways of getting to them, as well as
for discerning from the risky but rewarding those that were more
danger than they were worth. He would hunt insects, now more out of
necessity than curiosity; as well as
frogs, wisely leaving alone the too brightly coloured ones. He also came up with the idea of benefiting from scraps of humans' food
without going right where humans had placed them when it was too out in
the open - instead of digging through garbage cans, the raptors would
wait nearby, letting them act as bait, and catch rats, birds, and the
occasional
Compsognathus, that did the digging.
After the pack left the island and healed,
Beetlebiter and Singer finally got their second chance at parenthood,
and this time one egg was indeed viable, hatching little
Ruckus. A year later their third clutch hatched
Ruckus two little siblings, Whistler and
Whisper.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
His design is based on the
Tribe B Velociraptors from
Jurassic Park: Trespasser. I consider this a colour morph rather than a subspecies.
The change of his colouring might be a
result of the frog DNA, or it might just be an individual pigmentation
quirk. In the case of the former, exactly what changes, if any, may accompany
the colouring is unknown, other than that he obviously retains a
functioning ovary. The rest is probably none of anyone else's
business.
In comics his speech bubbles have been colour-coded as red with a
purple outline.
Soft steps
"You come out when
you're ready, babies. It's not really scary here."
—Soft
steps to her still unhatched cousinsSoft steps is a descendant
of
Velociraptors born around the time of the original
Jurassic Park.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quiet, cautious but curious.
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Soft steps has stripe patterns in shades of brown, as is typical
for her version of Jurassic Park
Velociraptor.
The top of her head is dark, and
the colour reaches around her eyes, and snout on the
right side, but not
quite to her mouth. She has dark along her back, and
somewhat broad stripes running down from that, and the tip of
her tail is dark. A few of the bigger patterns on her legs
are shaped more like spots than stripes.
In her adult colouring, her
scales are quite dark. Her base colour and patterns both
have a strong reddish-purple tint to them, and her underbelly is
a sandy yellow-brown. Her eyes are a very pale yellow-green,
appearing almost white.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Soft steps hatched two years after her pack migrated from
Isla Nublar to the mainland. She is the youngest among her
siblings at the moment, having hatched a little over a day after her only
clutchmate Daydreamer (she likes to give new things a careful consideration before engaging, which, it seems, includes entering the world).
While
she didn't always take
part in some of the other chicks' more daring adventures, she was eager to hear about them. When she
did tag along, she was often the
one in the group most observant to when it's time to hide or flee back
to the safety of their nest, and despite having at first mistaken her wariness for cowardice, the others
soon learned to pay
attention to her astute warnings.
After the pack met
Blue and the
Indoraptor prototype's pack and welcomed them to share their
territory, the chicks also gained more playmates - Soft steps and Daydreamer, their big sister Tumult,
and their cousin Ruckus now had five more young
raptors as their friends. Soft steps took introductions at her own pace,
and at first mostly watched the older chicks play while studying how
to participate safely - some of the
Indoraptor chicks were, after all, quite a bit bigger than her.
Eventually Soft steps warmed up to interacting with them more
directly.
Dusk is one of her favorites to spend
time with, and though both
of them
are a bit shy, they get along well, perhaps because and not despite of
this shared trait. She also really likes to hang out with
Sunny, as a bit of a voice of reason on her
friend's adventures, which are all the same more reckless than she
might have thought to embark on of her own initiative (but once safely
home again, Soft steps always finds herself glad she went with her).
Her interest in exploring and her patience to thoroughly check for
potential dangers has made her a competent addition to the pack's
scouts in adulthood.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In comics her speech bubbles have been colour-coded as white with a
very light brown outline. She often speaks quietly, so her dialogue is
usually in lowercase. |

Personality

Physical appearance

Tempest is a scaly Jurassic Park
Velociraptor chick, with stripe patterns
in shades of brown that are duller and lighter than the
palette of an adult female Velociraptor of this version.
She looks a lot like Tumult did at the same age, but their

Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tempest and her sister are the
first chicks to have been born of a union between the two raptor packs that
encountered each other somewhere in North America about two and a half
years after the eruption of
Mount Sibo.
One pack consists of descendants of the
Velociraptors created for
Jurassic Park, who had managed
to remain alive and hidden on
Isla Nublar until the island
became uninhabitable, and successfully smuggled themselves to the
mainland aboard a boat, led by Survivor and
her mate Squeak, two of the last
Velociraptors to have still hatched at
the laboratory in the Jurassic Park Visitor Center.
The other pack was established on the mainland by two escaped test
subjects of the

After meeting and agreeing to share their territory,
the packs merged into one. Particularly happy about this were Survivor
and Squeak's granddaughter Tumult, and Blue and the Indoraptor
prototype's daughter Skye, who were both subadults at the time.
The two girls quickly became inseparable friends, and soon their
relationship developed into a courtship. Having grown up now, the two
of them are a pair with two babies of their own.
Tempest hatched from the egg laid by Tumult, and is a
few hours older than her sister Cloudburst,
who hatched from the egg laid by Skye.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tempest is Tumult's biological daughter through
parthenogenesis, but as far as the raptors are concerned, both
Tumult and Skye are biological parents of both of their chicks.
Cloudburst
Cloudburst is
one of Skye and Tumult's two
daughters.
Personality
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cuddly
Physical appearance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cloudburst is a feathered Jurassic Park/World
Velociraptor chick.
She has
the same blue markings as
Blue
and Skye do, visible around the eyes and covered under
feathers elsewhere.
Unlike Skye, Cloudburst hatched already
feathered, and had a few black tufts on the top of her
head already in her down plumage. Another difference is
that she has her underbelly colouring on the insides of
her palms, like Blue does but Skye does not. Her eyes are
yellow.
Her plumage, which is currently a juvenile
plumage of
pennaceous feathers, is dark, speckled grey
with a
light, cream-coloured underbelly. She has a black crest at
the back of her head similar to Skye's, but the black also
extends down the back of her neck to her upper back. Under
her chin she has a little beard of soft feathers, which
are black at the tips. Her
flight feathers are a purplish grey darker than her
base colour. The dorsal greater coverts on her wings are
black, and the arm feathers (or marginal coverts)
bordering them have white tips. Her limbs have bands of
the dark, purplish grey, and on her legs also of her
underbelly colour.
Her wings are mostly functional, but she
has pronated wrists like her mother, and can't fold them
quite as much as a
Mesozoic
dromaeosaurid could.
She has been a
little bigger than her clutchmate sibling since hatching.
Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cloudburst and her sister are the first
chicks to have been born of a union between the two raptor packs that
encountered each other somewhere in North America about two and a half
years after the eruption of
Mount Sibo.
One pack was established on the
mainland by two escaped test
subjects of the
I.B.R.I.S. / Indoraptor
project, and consists of them and their children.
The other pack's members
are descendants of the Velociraptors created for
Jurassic Park, who had managed to
remain alive and hidden on
Isla Nublar until the island became
uninhabitable, and successfully smuggled themselves to the mainland
aboard a boat, led by Survivor and her mate
Squeak, two of the last Velociraptors to
have still hatched at
the laboratory in the Jurassic Park Visitor Center. |

After meeting and agreeing to share their territory,
the packs merged into one. Particularly happy about this were Blue and
the Indoraptor prototype's daughter Skye, and Survivor and
Squeak's granddaughter Tumult, who were both subadults at the
time. The two girls quickly became inseparable friends, and soon their
relationship developed into a courtship. Having grown up now, the two
of them are a pair with two babies of their own.
Cloudburst hatched from the egg laid by Skye, and is a
few hours younger than her sister Tempest,
who hatched from the egg laid by Tumult.
Behind the scenes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cloudburst is Skye's biological daughter through
parthenogenesis, but as far as the raptors are concerned, both
Skye and Tumult are biological parents of both of their chicks.
Her juvenile plumage is based on a
design by Neaji depicting her at speculated adult plumage.
